STS2 Patch Notes — 2026-03-19 (v0.100.0 Beta)
Welcome to the first BIG post-launch patch, Slayers!! This one has a huge balance pass, the main aim of which is to make infinites harder to achieve. We're also introducing a Phobia Mode with bespoke assets that should mitigate various creepy phobia concerns. Speaking of visuals, some snazzy new portrait art for various cards, and cool new character-specific VFX for when you gain energy!

Today's patch features all changes from the previous two beta branch patches, pushed live to the main branch. If you're interested in accessing the beta branch, please see the instructions outlined in these patch notes.
Got a quick hotfix for our players on the beta branch — this is what it's all for, so thank you to everyone providing feedback! If you're interested in accessing the beta branch, please see the previous patch notes.
Another small hotfix which resolves some more softlock issues. Thanks again to everyone reporting issues like this!
Happy day-after-launch day, Slayers! We've got another hotfix for you all today which should resolve some more frequent issues that players have been reporting. Your feedback will continue to be invaluable throughout Early Access!
Happy [[Slay the Spire 2]] launch day everyone! We have a day 1 hotfix for various issues and softlocks that players have reported. Thank you all for your feedback! For those who don't know, you can submit feedback in-game by pressing F2 or through the settings menu.
It's the last weekly patch before Slay the Spire 2's Early Access launch!! Thank you to all of our playtesters who have helped get us to this point. Your feedback has been invaluable! These notes are mostly some slight balance adjustments, bug fixes, and visual polish. We're almost to the next stage of StS2's evolution!!
Hey everyone, hope you all enjoyed the Early Access trailer reveal today! We're polishing up the art, making some performance improvements, and overall just sweeping up some bugs as we prep for launch. For those who have unlocked all characters you'll see a new Random option now! This should help out if you're feeling indecisive :)
This Thursday's patch includes some reworks, lots of balance changes, new art, and some Epoch additions and rewrites! Also this week we are **resetting saves** once again, so if you see an error that says "There was a problem loading your save," no need to submit a bug report.
Welcome to the first patch of February 2026! This one is more medium-sized, with a few balance and logic changes, a couple of reworks, and some art and UI additions.
Last week's patch was a bit on the smaller side, so to make up for it, this one is BIG. We've got a huge pass on enemy HP values and Ascension scaling, some new, reworked, returning, and deprecated content, UI/UX improvements, and a lot of changes to content unlocks.
This week's patch is a smaller one due to MLK day this past Monday, but the highlights include a few balance changes, new card art, and various UI improvements!
This patch is as beautiful as it is big!! We've got TONS of new relic art, some new card art, and some shiny new VFX for Defect's Hyperbeam move! There's also a LOT of new SFX for various enemies and NPCs. Finally, this patch includes The Relic Renamening: Part 2.
Necrobinder:
Happy New Year! This patch brings the start of fixes for hitching peroformance issues, a wave of card reworks across multiple characters, changes to the Necrobinder starter deck, Zlatir reworked into Vakuu, and a new score-based Epoch unlock system.
2025 (48 patches)
Happy holidays! This is likely our last major patch of the year (unless we seriously broke stuff)
This week's patch is a BIG one with lots of new, reworked, and deprecated content as well as a huge balance pass! For instance, many Ascensions have been shifted and reworked, a bunch of new relics have been added and Ancient relics rebalanced, the prices you find at the Merchant may vary quite a bit from what you're used to and, speaking of which, a certain *other* Merchant is a bit more talkative now.
This week's patch is a 2-for-1 special! Since we skipped last week's patch, this one includes two weeks worth of new content and reworks, including the brand new Ancient dialogue system!
This week's patch brings a big balance pass as well as some reworked cards, relics, and enemies. The Defect also gets a few new cards this week!
- Added new card, Outbreak
Greetings, playtesters! This week's patch brings various balance changes and reworks--including a total rework of Ascension 10--along with a few new relics and combat encounters. You'll also notice that quite a few enemies may have some snazzy new sounds or visual effects. Time to dig in...
Hey playtesters, we're back this week with two brand new *extra whimsical* events for you to check out--we're really interested to hear your feedback on them! We've also got some new VFX and art additions, UI/UX changes, and balance updates. **Important note: Steam Cloud saves are now enabled! This is an initial implementation, so please test it out and keep an eye out for any save file issues.**
This week's patch is a smaller one, bringing in some balance changes and reworks (we're looking at you Doormaker). Also, the reign of The Trial trolling is over. We're in the midst of a secret internal jam, but those fruits cannot be harvested yet. Stay tuned for next week's spooky patch!
In this patch we're welcoming a brand new Act 3 boss, The Doormaker, and saying goodbye to The Dreamer. You know what they say--when one door closes, another one opens! You'll also find BIG balance passes for the Necrobinder and the Defect (the latter of which has 4 shiny new cards!)
This week's patch is a shorter one, but there will be a big balance patch next time around! One highlight to look out for this week is the rework to Knowledge Demon's banes.
New patch is here with some changes to events, a big balance pass, and UX/UI updates!
In this September patch we're still churning our way through event updates and rewrites while polishing up art, SFX, and animations. Speaking of core content, Ceremonial Beast is reworked a bit again, now with a mix of new and old.
This week's patch brings a big content and balance pass, especially when it comes to The Necrobinder and The Regent. We're also saying goodbye to our old friend, the "Strength Down" power; whenever you would lose temporary Strength at the end of your turn you will now see a unique power based on the source of the temporary Strength. We're especially interested in getting feedback on how this change feels!
Another Thursday, another Byrdlett patch! This one brings a brand new Act 3 boss and a whole host of balance and UX changes. Many changes have been made to multiplayer specifically, so be sure to try out a multiplayer run if you haven't in a while! Also, the art additions that didn't make it into last week's patch have now actually been added.
We're back from PAX + an extended Labor Day holiday, so this week was also a bit of a shorter one. Still, this patch has a bunch of new Ironclad cards, another Knowledge Demon rework, balance changes, and new art!
A new patch is here--a whole day early!! We're off to PAX West this week, so this is a slightly smaller one. There's no new content to speak of, but a lot of placeholder assets, writing updates, and UX/UI changes are here.
Necrobinder:
- Reworked The Hunt card
A new week, a new patch! This one introduces a few card reworks, a balance pass (especially for the Necrobinder), lots of UI & UX improvements, more card art, and some shiny new main menu music!
All of this unlocking business revealed we needed some more content and so we're bringing in 17 relics and 4 potions. We're also adding some logic that makes it so you encounter each boss until you've seen them all.
This week we see the biggest patch of all time (not really, but I figured it'd be nice to say so for Vex). We're shimming in a handful of features including Save Profiles and the long awaited Bestiary! The balance focus is on the Necrobinder this week while we incorporate UX polish and content related to the Timeline. Many enemies in the Underdocks have received sound effects and we also have a new track for the Test Subject boss.
This week we've scrapped and rebuilt The Defect once again, deprecating and adding many various cards. Also, the Timeline is back! Because of this, you'll find that your progress has been reset and much of the game's content must now be unlocked via the Timeline. We'd especially appreciate any feedback you have on it! Other than that, some events have been rebalanced, art has been added, and bugs have been fixed!
This week's patch graces you with the presence of a new Act 3 Ancient, whose name may seem oddly familiar... Also, the Test Subject boss has received a major rework, maps have been slightly rebalanced, various UI/UX improvements have been made, and lots of new card and beta art has been added!
- Added new Orb type, Glass
This week's patch brings another BIG rework to The Necrobinder! Other highlights include some major changes to The Silent's kit, a reworked Ascension 1, and lots of interesting UX additions.
Time for another weekly patch! If you make your way on over to the Potion Lab, you'll find it has received a total makeover--and what's more, the potions themselves have received makeovers! Our goal with these new potion assets is to make them more visually distinct from one another and be more representative of what each potion does. Feedback is encouraged!
It's time for the second June patch! This week brings in more controller support so you should be able to play an entire run from start to finish using a controller or Steam Deck. Still, it's quite early so feedback on its ux, ui, bugs, and general feedback about its implementation are appreciated. The support is in for Xbox controllers so other controllers may experience some weirdness or incompatibility at this time. Please report those as issues too!
Happy summer patch time!
It's the last weekly patch... of May 2025 that is!
It's the return of the Daily Climb this week! Those who have played at least one game can now participate in the Daily Climb. Does the leaderboard work? Do the modifiers cause issues? Have ideas for the daily?? Now's your chance to give feedback.
This week, we're still making significant changes to the back end for flexibility and performance improvements so please let us know of any issues like broken textures or egregious hiccups. General feedback about overall performance or quality of certain assets is also appreciated.

Got another patch for you all today and, because of PAX, it's another small one 🤏 Most of the content changes here are actually reworks of Tezcatara's and Zlatir's choices, which are in preparation for a new Ancient coming within the next couple weeks!
It's Byrdlett Build... *checks notes*... Thursday?! That's right, going forward we'll be releasing new builds on Thursdays instead of Fridays, that way we have some more leeway if we run into any obstacles and we can more easily get hotfixes out if needed. We've got a relatively small one today (no new Content™️ this time) but there's some balance changes and art/animation additions for y'all to check out!
Build tiiiiiiiime! In some very special news today, **you should now also be able to run StS2 on macOS!!** In terms of content, we are continuing the pattern of adding bosses by bringing you two new Act 3 bosses! Also there are a lot of Regent balance changes and some snazzy new art and animations ✨
It's build time! Highlights: Regent is getting a bunch of cards (many of which should give him some more defensive options), two brand new bosses for Act 2, and numerous Silent changes. Also heads up that your run histories have been broken once again; while it shouldn't impact anything, if you try to view your previous run histories they won't display and you may encounter a softlock.
We're back to our regularly scheduled programming this week--another Slay the Spire 2 build is here! In terms of content for this patch we have two new Act 1 bosses and some new Regent cards along with lots of balance and UI/UX updates. And in even bigger news, **we're switching to Steam builds from here on out!**
If you saw me accidentally hit enter early no you didn't 🙂 Anyways, it's build time! We've added a bunch of colorless cards and reworked/renamed multiple Pael options! Ok patch notes time.
Time for another build!! This time we've added a TON of new relics (well, some new and some old 👀) and lots of various UI improvements and bug fixes. Let's dig in!
<@&1070463562008510616> Another Friday, another Byrdlett build! This one comes with some big Vlad--or should we say Zlatir--changes among various bug fixes, UI & UX additions, and balance changes!
Welcome to Wongo's Patch Notes Emporium, where we have everything to satisfy your playtesting needs at wongtastic prices. On special this week we have lots of changes and new content for the Regent as well as Tezcatara the Ancient. We're also wongcited to announce that we just got 6 brand new events in stock, including one that features one of our very own Wongo's branches.
It's Byrdlett Build Friday again, folks!! In terms of content we've got some new and totally reworked cards, new potions, and a couple of new events, too! We've also made some updates to UI & UX, including more FTUEs and the brand new Potion Lab and Relic Library!! Also... some people will be very happy with Necrobinder's new character select art 😁
Build time!! This week we've got lots of new content and reworks for the Regent as well as Act 2 (including a new boss!!), along with tons of bug fixes and balance changes as usual!
ANOTHA ONE. This week's build is bringing some big Ancient glow ups: more content, choices, reworks, AND the Ancients no longer offer boss relics... but that's just because a brand new Ancient, the Hoarder, has been living up to his name and hoarding them all! He can hook you up with some of those classic relics, don't worry. Also, Act 3 has seen a big overhaul with lots of new enemy encounters and redesigns, so we're excited to hear your thoughts! ✨
Hey playtesters, it's that time again! The Regent has some new cards in the mix and some out of the mix, more relics have been added (including brand new ones as well as some familiar ones), and there are some changes to the Ancient mechanic's flow!
Could it be time 👀
Friday again? no problem
Hey playtesters, got another patch for ya! And it's a doozy. First of all... THE NECROBINDER REWORK IS HERE!! No more swapping! Necro's HP is now a fraction of what it was but, at the end of combat, she heals completely AND revives Osty if he's dead! Another big change to her kit is she can now sacrifice her own HP to boost Osty in various ways through cards. We're very interested in hearing your thoughts on her new playstyle!! 💀 ✨
Patch time!!! We have a lot more bug fixes as usual, but most notably we have a lot of enemy reworks. For instance, the Burrowing Bug is no longer untargetable when burrowed and the Queen and her Torch Head Amalgam have some fresh new moves.
Another patch is here already!! There are LOTS of bug fixes as well as various balance updates, including some changes to the Roach enemies. Notably, they now live up to their reputation and come back after you think you've squashed 'em. Enjoy!
This patch is a little late. Apologies, there were some problems with the old engine but we're SO back!
2023 (20 patches)
What a week, huh? At least we've got a shiny new build to end it with ^-^
Friday again? No problem........... 👌
Happy Friday and a 3 day weekend 👀?
Happy New Build Friday!!
Good Friday! We have a build for you 🎉
It's that time again: Friday Build time!
Hey playtesters, allow me to formally introduce myself for those who don't already know: I'm Demi the new CM, and I come bearing this week's build!
Howdy playtesters! Casey is on vacation, so I'm filling in this week for the patchnotes (sorry in advanced if there are any typos).
Happy friday playtesters ! I was in Sweden last week so I ~~couldn't make a build~~ was too lazy to write patch notes*.
Good afternoon it's Friday build time!
Good afternoon playtesters it's that time again!
Happy Friday! 😎
Happy Memorial Day soon!
Hi hi, this week the save/load system is... nearly complete! I think it should work fine now except when loading the game back into event rooms so don't do that unless you want to have a bad time. If you notice issues with things not loading outside of that, file bugs please!
This week we're just fixing bugs and cleaning up the card screen backend. The annoying Act 1 -> Act 2 bug should be fixed.
🎉It's Friday build day 🎉!
Alright, happy Friday! We're working on save/load, cleaning up some screens so we can visually move the cards around easier, and some stuff on the settings screens but while that's getting done we're still exterminating bugs.
Hey folks, we have a new build 🎉
Patch notes!
NOTE: This is the oldest patch notes pasted in our internal playtest server.
