STS2 Patch Notes — 2025-07-24
This week we see the biggest patch of all time (not really, but I figured it'd be nice to say so for Vex). We're shimming in a handful of features including Save Profiles and the long awaited Bestiary! The balance focus is on the Necrobinder this week while we incorporate UX polish and content related to the Timeline. Many enemies in the Underdocks have received sound effects and we also have a new track for the Test Subject boss.
CONTENT
General:
- Implemented user profiles
- Added the Bestiary to the Compendium
- An Epoch must be revealed to gain Ascension access on a per character basis now
- Character specific potions are now locked behind Epochs
Necrobinder:
- Reworked the following cards:
- Favorite Stick
- Flatten
- Mischief

Regent:
- Reworked the following cards:
- Hidden Gem
- Meteor Shower

BALANCE
Ironclad:
- Buffed Blood Wall card: Block increased from 15(20) -> 16(20)
Silent:
- Nerfed Graceful card: Skills played requirement increased from 3 -> 4
- Buffed Speedster card: damage changed from being dealt to a random enemy -> ALL enemies
Necrobinder:
- Buffed Soul card: card draw increased from 1(2) -> 2(3)
- Changed Afterlife card: rarity decreased from Uncommon -> Common
- Nerfed Capture Spirit card: now adds un-upgraded Souls instead of upgraded
- Nerfed Carve Ghost card: now adds Souls to your Discard Pile instead of your Hand
- Changed Debilitate card:
- Damage decreased from 16(19) -> 10(12)
- Nerfed Grave Warden card: now adds Souls to your Discard Pile instead of your Hand
- Changed Make Use card: Osty now attacks and deals the damage instead of Necrobinder
- Buffed Melancholy card:
- Rarity increased from Common -> Uncommon
- Nerfed Shroud card: Block decreased from 3(4) -> 2(3)
- Nerfed Sleight of Flesh card: damage decreased from 13(17) -> 9(11)
Regent:
- Nerfed Gamma Beam card: damage decreased from 15(20) -> 13(17)
- Nerfed Hegemony card: damage decreased from 17(20) -> 15(18)
- Changed Monologue card: rarity increased from Common -> Uncommon
- Changed Shining Strike card: upgrade changed from +1 star -> +4 damage
- Changed Spectrum Shift card: rarity increased from Uncommon -> Rare
- Buffed My Mantle relic: Block increased from 5 -> 10
Colorless:
- Buffed Eternal Armor card: no longer Exhausts
- Nerfed Nostalgia card:
- No longer gains Innate on upgrade
Ancients:
- Changed Darv's Forbidden Grimoire card: upgrade changed from Innate -> Retain
- Buffed Neow's Sturdy Brace relic: HP gain increased from 10 -> 11
ART
- Added beta portrait art for the following cards:

AUDIO
- Added SFX for the following enemies:

USER INTERFACE & EXPERIENCE
Regent:
- Decreased Soverign Blade VFX's travel radius
Potions & Relics:
- Pantograph relic now pulses in the room before the boss
Enemies:
- Slimed Berserker's statuses no longer go off the screen
Events:
- The upgrade preview in Perilous Prosepcts event no longer blocks the event choice
General:
- Adjusted cost UI in Merchant room + shadow for Remove Card service coin
- Cleaned up + colorized Epoch inspect screen unlock text
- Total Epoch count is no longer shown in Timeline until all expansions are complete (disabled for now)
- If your saves get corrupted, a popup now appears telling you to report a bug
- Added new heart and gold icons in the top bar
- Removed some blur from Epoch slots and inspect screen due to various Epoch reveal changes
- Upon entering the Timeline for the first time, there is now a brief tutorial on it
- When utilizing hotkeys for drawing and erasing on the map, the associated button is now lit up
- Updated hotkey tips for map drawing and erasing
- Map drawing UI now animates in and out of the map when open and closed
- Map drawing UI assets are now grouped together and in a new spot
- You can now skip the text animation when revealing an Epoch by clicking
WORDING
- Echoing Slash card's wording is now clearer about hitting an additional time for each enemy killed
- Fixed formatting issue in "Seeds" Epoch text
- Fixed punctuation in Ranwid the Elder event description
- Morphic Grove event's Submit option now marks "Lose 100 Gold" in red
BUG FIXES
Ironclad:
- Cinder card visually shows the Exhausted card again
Silent:
- All hits from Echoing Slash card now count as a single attack for effects like Vigor power
- The Hunt card can no longer be generated by Splash card
Defect:
- Rocket Punch card no longer counts Statuses given by the enemy
Necrobinder:
- Lethality card's extra damage is now properly previewed on Osty attack cards when Osty is dead
Regent:
- Bombardment card's autoplay won't prevent Gloopy Eye relic from triggering
- Hidden Cache card preview now goes to the correct pile
- Orbit card no longer triggers when a card is auto-played for free
- When Orbit card triggers after more than 4 energy has been gained, the extra energy now counts as a "rollover" for the next trigger
Colorless Cards:
- All hits from Omnislice card now count as a single attack for effects like Vigor power
Potions & Relics:
- Scarcity Ascension no longer affects White Beast Statue relic
Ancient:
- Fixed Orobas' unlock condition
- Pael's Lasting Candy relic is now guaranteed to give you a Rare power card in a boss reward
Enemies:
- Fixed an occasional softlock after winning the Axebots fight
- Creatures no longer play the hurt animation when taking damage from Thorns power
- Fixed an issue where Vigor power only applied to the first hit of Knowledge Demon's multi-hit attack move
- Terror Eel's Shriek power now rounds down to match description
- Hang power no longer applies to Test Subject when it is killed first
Events:
- Can no longer repeatedly click on the Fight option in Dense Vegetation event while the screen is transitioning
General:
- Buttons at game over screen are now properly hidden until they animate in
- Can no longer apply Echoing enchantment to a card that already has an enchantment on it
- Can no longer see map fade out for a split second when you enter the next room
- Fixed game crash when collecting Gold rewards while Merchant slots exist
- Fixed issues with fullscreen toggle
- Fixed lag if you spam click the Save and Quit button during a run
- Map now animates down in the first room of a clean run
- Potions owned at the end of the run are no longer missing/out of order in the Run History
- Powers no longer do a weird scale thing when they're replayed
- Data loss is now prevented by skipping archive when user-scoped directory migration is skipped
- Removed event-specific cards from the Cursed Run pool
- Mutable models are now utilized when creating the unlock potion screen
- We now hide Star cost if you haven't discovered the card yet
- You can no longer hover over nodes in the game over screen while they're invisible
- You can now press the map button in the game over screen
PERFORMANCE
- Packed various assets for optimization
